Campaign Financing Reform
Next year, we will subsidize electoral costs for low income students. We will propose raising the cost of Winter Congress by $2 to the Finance Director and putting the difference into a separate account called the "Election Scholarship Fund." Students who qualify for a full scholarship for overnight conventions will be able to receive money to run for an elected position. The students receiving this aide will be able to use the money for whatever election-related costs they need covered and will be required to keep track of all their spending. This will be reviewed periodically by EV to make sure everything is legitimate.
Consignment Store
Clothing. It seems like such a superficial part of JSA. But to the people who don't have the right types of clothing, it's the most ostracizing. Business formal and casual are among the most expensive dress codes to shop for. There are also strict rules for both boys and girls. Once one knows them, it is easy to identify the outliers. A JSA Consignment Shop will be at the top of my agenda next year. I will ask chapters to host business formal/business casual clothing drives, as well as invite JSA alums to donate their clothes. All of the clothes will be brought to an overnight convention like Fall State. Once sorted in one of the spare rooms (like Sapphire A or B), all of the clothes will sell for no more than $10. Not only will this help those who can't afford to buy those clothes at their regular prices, but it will also give everyone the opportunity to buy extremely discounted clothes. All of the proceeds will go to the MAS Scholarship Fund. Plus, consignment stores are fun for everyone!
