- ADDING DIVERSE SCHOOLS: Next year, I plan to target two types of schools we lack in the MAS: schools in low income areas and schools in urban areas. Increasing the number of schools in low income areas helps bring more diversity in thought and opinion, as well as socioeconomic backgrounds to JSA. Targeting schools in urban areas will bring in many more people because of the size of these schools. The NJR has many large cities that could join the MAS: Newark, Jersey City, Trenton, Camden, to name a few.
- BETTER SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE: One of the best ways to spread the word about JSA is through social media presence. This will help us make connections with teenagers who would be eager to start a chapter at their school. I would work with the director of technology to make sure we post more interactive question prompts or small shout out contests on Instagram.
- WEBINARS: We will also host webinars on topics that will enable small chapters to build and thrive. The webinars will give presidents tips on how to expand chapters at schools, encourage people to come to overnight conventions and one days, and work with administration more effectively.
- TEACHERS AS UNTAPPED RESOURCES: One avenue that has not been explored is the asset teachers can be in building new chapters. JSA has tried many routes in an attempt to attract new students but has never approached teachers to enlist their help. Next year, I will propose reaching out to Gov/Pol teachers through their online communities and put those teachers in contact with both the EV and directors of expansion.
